Dr. Vandervoort is an orthopedic surgeon and a Partner in Anniston Orthopedic Associates. He is past chief of the medical staff at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and is a director of The Surgery Center in Oxford.

Dr. Vandervoort graduated magna cum laude from The University of Alabama in 1978. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, and the Anderson Society. He received his medical degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1982 and was an Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Academic Honorary member.
